Since the beginning of my professional teaching career in 2001, I have worked with students at all levels and of all age groups. I have taught individual students, small groups, and classes of 30+. For the last two years, however, I have focused on helping individual students and small teams. Getting to know students’ needs and expectations is my first priority. Then we build the course around this information, modifying the content and pace when needed. I also look for students’ areas of interest and leverage them to make the process as engaging and enjoyable as possible. In general, I try to convince my students that communication and a positive attitude are more important than absolute correctness. I am an advocate of language immersion, direct communication, and the inductive approach.
